Welcome to the week before the week before February Vacation!
This week, I walked through 25 Art, Music and Performing Arts classrooms across grades 6-12. Some really exciting work going on, and always so proud to see our kids rising to your expectations. I will share the details from the learning walk in this week's wrap up email, and want to thank you for having me hang out with your kids!
Next week, I will be in K-5 Classrooms from Wednesday to Thursday. Can't wait to see all of the great work you do :)
Learning Walk Snap Shots...
- Durfee had four students qualify for SEMSBA Festival! They are:Ellen Wang, Lorelai Botelho, Mallory Figueiredo, and Dhimitrious Crowe!
- Kuss had one student make it to Jr. SEMSBA! Karahlyn Dupra wooooooo hoooooooo!
- I am starting to already see evidence of the NCAS implemented into planning- great work in the Creating, Presenting, Responding and Connecting Strands! Soooo Good!
- Our next PD release time day together is Monday, March 11th. I will begin to plan this day with useful strategies for all grade levels around the National Core Arts Standards. Stay tuned!
- The following PD release time day is Monday, April 1. This one is teacher led. I am sure art teachers will be prepping for the EXPO, and music will be prepping for concerts/performances!
Planning for Department Time:
- Monthly Department time for K-8 Art will shift gears at this point until the May department meeting. Please use your hour a month for February, March and April to prepare work for the ARTS EXPO.
- Monthly Department time for K-5 Music will be switching gears this month- you will meet "virtually" to share lessons on the drive.
- Monthly Department time for 6-8 Music- please use this time (one hour) to work on the maps for 6, 7 and 8th grade, and chorus. (Michela, please work on chorus, Bill, please work on 7th grade and Kelsey, please work on 8th grade. These are on the drive, as you know and are called At a Glance...)
