Me First day of school - Side-Eyes Chloe | Make a Meme

Good afternoon, Arts Team:

Yup, it's not your average first day, is it?  Where will all of those "my kid's first day of school" pics be on social media this year?  In front of a Chromebook?  Sippin' on a juice box on the couch, logging into a SeeSaw?  Whatever it looks like, this team has been busy preparing for it, and we will be ready.

So, what did we do this week?

We discussed goals:

  1. Norm virtual instructional planning, strategies and best practices that are NCAS Standards driven
  2. Collaborate with department members to support the design of tasks for art and music that promote engaging activities with measurable outcomes (artifacts/art/music/performances)
  3. Model use of technology and platforms to bring art and music to the forefront of online learning (FlipGrid, Virtual Galleries, Google Sites, Google Drawings, etc)
We Hit Tech HARD:
  1. Google Drawings: LINK
  2. FlipGrid: FlipGrid Tutorial for Google Classroom
  3. Google Sites: TUTORIAL LINK
  4. Blendspace: LINK
  5. Art of Ed: LINK

And we talked about Scheduling...

  • Many of you will be getting your schedules Monday, and some got them today.
  • We can touch base via email about these or on the phone.
  • Many of you may be doing a combo of Face to Face and Remote- we discussed this in the meetings today. Reach out if this applies to you, and I will facilitate.
So, what about next week?
  • K-5 will meet on Monday morning for a planning session- see the invite on calendar.
  • 6-8 will also meet to plan, but on Tuesday morning.  See calendar.
  • 9-12 will meet on Monday at 8AM Face to Face- quick touch base and then off to plan.
  • Wednesday IS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: Schools should be communicating what your responsibility is for that day and HOW you will interact with students online.  Make sure you are:
    • Sharing links to Google Classrooms if this is the platform you are using..
    • Creating welcoming messages in these!
    • Getting your room set up- traffic guidelines, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizing station, transition table (the Switzerland of exchange spots for you and students to use for exchanging objects)..
    • Bring healthy snacks and stay hydrated!
  • Wednesday, many of us will have time to touch base again in a weekly PLC format- K-5 is at 1:30.  Durfee and Middle Schools- not sure of time yet. Stay tuned.
Have a great weekend!
