2022 Arts Expo Pics- WHAT A NIGHT @ DURFEE!!

Thank you all so much for making this happen- it takes crazy effort to put an Arts Expo together this size, and you all knocked it out of the park.  We must have had several hundred visitors!  The Durfee atrium was BUZZING, busy like Grand Central Station- and to hear our kids talk about their work was so great.  My heart was full.

One of my favorite things to do is walk through and SEE the PROGRESSION of ARTS EDUCATION from when they are "littles" to big kids..  You bring them from "shaking hands with Mr. Scissors" to drawing from observation- and that growth is TANGIBLE at this EXPO... Here are some of the compliments that we were given- wanted to share with you:

  • The work from high school looked college level
  • The sculptures were amazing- couldn't believe they were done by level one kids
  • Ceramics work was something you would see in a level one class in college
  • Fashion Design collections were a hit- students were heard talking about the designs and wearability
  • Foundations classes- a BU teacher came to visit and when she found out these were term class kids who for most are "not artists" she was in shock
  • RPA work was amazing- and so many teachers and families came from RPA to view the show
  • Families were "on the hunt" for their child's work but got lost in the awesome colorful maze and liked it
  • "This is amazing" was what I heard from almost everyone who was just in awe of the level of work
  • Superintendent Pontes tweeted out how amazed she was at the level of work at the show
  • Patti Rego from Viva Fall River was here and couln't BELIEVE the amount of art in one location- she took loads of pics and is sharing across the Fall River Cultural Council's email group and on her social media
But the most heartwarming "overhearings" for me were the hundreds of kids who stopped by during set up (can you believe we set up that show in 4 hours?) to say "OMG Miss- you were my favorite teacher!!"

Congrats on surviving the 2022 FRPS K-12 Arts Expo- start charging your batteries for 2023..

Thank you!
Jackie
