Week Ending 10/18/19

Welcome to another weekend!

First, a few pics from this week's Durfee PSAT Event, and the Talbot Creative Courts Mural Painting
Grades 9-11 took the PSAT plunge on Wednesday, so a few teams were able to have some fun with the Seniors!
Here are a few pics from the fun! At Talbot, the artists are working hard on limited sunshine to get it done! Such a cool basketball court!

This week, I spent some solid time reading all of the Art and Music Student Learning and Professional Practice Goals.

Here is a breakdown of what we have planned for the 2019/20 school year:

PPG's:
Curriculum Mapping Using the NCAS- 19
Blended Learning Strategies and Music Technology- 7
SEL/Responsive Classroom Strategies- 5
Performance Rubrics- 1
Writing in Art- 1
AP/Advanced Art Program Promotion- 1
Improving System for Recruit/Retention in Instrumental Program- 8

SLG's:
These are focused on particular grade levels in which we see a need. The goals are not only skills based but also commitment/perseverance based (instrumental) as well as content vocabulary based.

The next step that we will discuss in PLC time is the Ed Plan Development Form. This form is broken into the following sections:
  • Goal Name
  • Action/Strategies
  • Timeline
  • Resources/Supports
  • Indicators/Evidence
As we complete these, remember this is your "road map" for accomplishment of the goal... For the SLG, think about HOW you will "beef up" what you do (PLANNING AND INSTRUCTION) to support the SLG, and how you will periodically MEASURE the growth (formatives/CLOSINGS, summatives). For the PPG, think about how you will OWN this work, during PD time, collaborative time (weekly PLCs if you have these) and in your Professional Practice..

As you wrap up this thinking, boil it down to the bare bones steps, and number these in the above sections (it's easier to read when each section has numbers so I can see what is in reference to what).

Observations:
Thank you to those who I have observed already! I will commit to giving you some feedback to think about that is classroom based, and/or content based, and some ideas to consider!
I will be continuing with observations throughout the district in the next three weeks, and my plan is to see everyone by November 15th.

October/November Planning:

  • End of Term 1- Friday, November 1
  • Ed Plan Development Forms (1 for each goal)- Friday November 1

  • K-5 October Art/Music Meeting- 10/24 at HLCS- 3:45

NUTS AND BOLTS REMINDERS:
  • Lesson Plans are due on Monday morning
  • Emergency Sub Plans need to be prepared and left on your desks (Durfee has a specific folder) in case you are absent
  • Workshop Model aspects should be present (in your room and in your planning):
