Good morning, Arts Fam!
Big news on the horizon- last night, the school committee voted to move Assistant Superintendent Tracy Curley forward as their candidate of choice for the next Superintendent. This would mean that Tracy's position would be posted, and a new leader for Teaching and Learning will be chosen to lead all content areas. There will still be a period of waiting, as a contract will have to be drafted and agreed upon, but the committee has spoken!
Also, the next Fine and Performing Arts Director will be announced soon- I was so proud of ALL of the internal candidates during the interview process. Such great, solid discussion was had around leadership, cultural relevance, goal setting and "the work" we do every day. I am a very proud person, and I was SO proud of the people on this team who had the courage and leadership skill to boldly step up and put their hat in the ring. Ralph Nader said "I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers." I truly believe in this.
And now, for the remainder of the school year..
- There will be no more CPT/PLC meetings for the remainder of the year
- Please remember to sign your evaluations in TeachPoint, and look to see if you have to sign any other items in there!
- Durfee department meeting Tuesday after school.
- Durfee faculty meeting Friday at 12:30.
- There will be no online meeting for the team on Thursday- too many schools are having meetings in buildings.
- Please make sure that you finalize all grades in X2.
- Please make sure that you leave your classrooms ready to "hibernate" for the next couple of months.
- I will write one last blog next Thursday, June 13th, and then sign out.. and hand the baton over to your new leader.
