Congrats to Nicole and the Laprise and Turgeon Families!!!

Here's what the ARTS are working on:

  • In K-5 Music PLC, we checked in on the Book Lists that music staff sent in- I have placed order number 1 and will place another next week- I will close the order NEXT FRIDAY.  Amazon has a pretty quick turn around, so I will get these to you soon!  Nick also shared his insight from the annual NAFME conference!  Thank you so much, Nick, for always being there for us.
  • In K-5 Art PLC, we checked in on the status of Virtual Galleries.  Good work happening here!  Some are using Google Slides and some are using Padlet.  Super cool work- don't forget to share!  Share these when done (at the end of the term, trimester or year- you choose what works best for YOU) with your principal and me!  I will share wherever I can.  We also chatted about getting some neon oil pastels- more to come on this!
  • In 6-8 PLC, we discussed the return to SINGING INDOORS!  We touched base on how this can impact our initial idea for the "Virtual Chorus".  I will email the 6-8 Music team so we can chat about this next week. We also did a "check-in" on how kids are doing now that they have returned to buildings, and discussed the "synchronous/asynchronous" set up/break down of the workshop model.
  • In 9-12 PLC, we checked in briefly on High Schoolers return to school on 3/15 and then jumped into a task- teachers were asked to record/submit short clips on FlipGrid- "commercials" for their courses- and I then linked these in a Power Point for all students to view as they begin their choices for electives for next year.  Check out this SUPER COOL PPT HERE.
Shout Outs:
  • To the DURFEE TEAM, for dealing with my shenanigans on a daily basis- asking you to do a clip on FlipGrid in a matter of a few hours was one of many tasks that I know you must be scratching your head at first- but what you come up with is always AMAZING.  I want you to know how much I appreciate you all, and what you do.
  • To Susan Glaser, who presented in the National Virtual VILS Conference using Makey Makeys!  So proud of this tech DYNAMO!
  • To Nick Quigley, who attended the Virtual NAFME Conference and then offered to present what he learned to our K-5 teachers!
  • To Kendra Walters, who shares consistently what she does on Twitter, and I am always amazed at the ideas this ART Super Hero comes up with!
  • To Gael Berberick, who has "upped her lesson planning game" using a new format based on UDL and she's rocking it!
  • To Harley Silva, new Art Teacher at Morton, who is Stylin' and Profilin' like she's been there for the whole year!  She rolled right into setting good expectations, and the kids are loving their time in Ms. Silva's room!
  • To Steph Pereira for being FEARLESS in her planning- having students draw BIG on the floor!  (see pic above)  I call that seeing potential in social distancing!  :)
  • To Nicole Turgeon, who literally worked to the day before her precious boy was due.. and he's here!  Thank you to Nicole, and the WHOLE team of Orchestra teachers who have stepped up to take on some of Nicole's kids, and also to Charlene Monte who is subbing for Nicole!  We've got this Ms. (Laprise) Turgeon!  Stay home and give that little Ben all your Mama love!
