In NO WAY does that SCARE THIS TEAM!  You Artsy DYNAMOS were like clockwork this week- Below are only some of the examples of your work in action!

This week, in the ARTS:

  • Solo Fest!  We had so many students take advantage of this "hometown" adjudication festival... so good to see our kids come to the new building to get them performing at these levels.  Awesome job to all of the Band and Orchestra Team- you made it happen, soup to nuts.
  • We brought in a new member to the team!  Reis Medeiros is the long term substitute teacher for Jayson Newell!  As you know, Jay is recovering from his brain surgery, and we wish him well.  Reis has the classroom "on lock" and is getting to know the kids and the routines here at Durfee.  Welcome to the team, Reis!
  • We have SO MANY amazing things happening this month with the Marching Band, it's crazy!  Between college signing day, Spring Concert, Memorial Day Parade, Graduation, etc..  They are double booked from now until the end!  Say a little prayer for the band leaders!
  • As part of the FABRIC FESTIVAL programming, we had PMDS (a Portuguese Music Tech group) come visit our music tech students today at Durfee to show them how they use technology to make and mix music.. so amazing.  Thank you to GARY BIGELOW for making yet another thing happen for our kids.  They are so lucky to have you.
  • We have all of our Chorus, Band and Orchestra ensembles getting ready for SPRING CONCERTS!!
    • Durfee: 5/19
    • Kuss: 5/24
    • Talbot: 5/25
    • Morton: 6/7
    • HLCS/Doran: 6/7 (school time event)
Other News:
  • K-8 Arts teachers discussed the idea of moving the Arts Expo to May- Click HERE to weigh in!
  • As Gary Bigelow is retiring this year, we would like to announce that Abby Casey will be coming over to Durfee to take his position.  Stay tuned for more details in terms of additions to the FRPS Fine and Performing Arts Team as they happen!
  • Can we just talk about how cute Steph Tierno's (Fonseca Music) baby is?

Have a great weekend.
Jackie
