Week Ending Friday March 17th!

You know that's a kale smoothie in my hand LOL

In the News This Week:
  • Learning Walks
  • March Madness- Modern Masters
  • All City Concerts
  • Website
Learning Walks:
I will be walking through K-12 classrooms next week between Monday and Wednesday.  So excited to see what you have going on!  Here is some info from the last one with K-5.

Things we can focus on:

  • Think about what NCAS standard for art or music you are focusing on, what element and/or principle you are working with, and don’t be afraid to take a few weeks to get it done

  • Using technology to engage/communicate the expectations

  • Think about ways to make the class feel smaller, potentially by using small group instruction, and/or using video tutorials to assist in teaching or reteaching

March Madness Masters:
  • Through the rest of the month of March, following suit with so many other "March Madness" themed things going on around us, for the next 10 school days, I will share an art and music "Modern Master" so you can share this with your students if you'd like!
  • Every day, I will add an artist and a musician to this POWER POINT. Please consider engaging your students in learning about new fine and performing artists out there!
  • I will try to share young new artists that look like our kids.
All City Concerts:

All City Band and Orchestra Concerts are coming up!   Shout out to our teachers who have been working SO hard to get our kids STAGE READY!  If you think about it, this is the first full year that we have not had to wear masks (which made band and orchestra difficult) and be 6-10 feet apart!

Next week marks the start of all city rehearsals and concerts. Students that play an instrument in grades 5-12 from across the city will join forces to play in our mega all city Band and Orchestras.. Come and check them out and support your students!
All City Orchestra concert, Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30
All City Band concert, Thursday, March 30th at 6:30

So excited for our ensembles... Thank you to Nicole Turgeon, Caroline Ollivierre, Jodie Laprise, Itsva Hernandez, Julia Klingner, Donna Murray, Jay Treloar and Matt MacMullen for believing in your students, and pushing them to do hard things.

The FRPS Fine and Performing Arts Website (in the works):
  • Many of you know that I have been collecting your maps and syllabi for courses- I have been working on our website.
  • I will share the link HERE so you can see it as a work in progress.  I will be making some changes (separating the high school curriculum, etc) but thought I would share!

Have a great weekend!

Jackie
