  • F&PA Learning Walk
  • February 9th PD Day
  • (Re)Setting the Learning (and Behavioral) Expectations
Formative Evaluations:

If you are on a one year plan (this is in your TeachPoint), you should have your Formative Eval scheduled.  If I am your evaluator, I asked you to schedule a time/day with me.  At this eval meeting, you should be explaining why you chose the artifacts you chose- be smart about what you choose (1-3 artifacts per goal and standard) and know how each directly supports the indicator/goal.  For your SLG, show evidence of where you are thus far.  For PPG, show how you are implementing what you are learning professionally (Ex: implementing aspects of identity pursuit into your lesson plan/student work).  Any questions, ask!

PLC 6-12 Next Week:

As grade 6-12 teachers are starting a new semester AND loading grades for semester 1 kids, we will NOT meet during the week of the 22nd to the 26th of January.

Welcome to Semester 2:

As we wrap up the learning for our first set of students and get ready to set new expectations and make new relationships with students, let's take a moment to reflect and review:
  • What worked that you will keep on doing?  Be consistent!
  • What needs to made crystal clear in terms of expectations?
  • How do kids know how you grade?
  • Responsibility, respect and safety.. all behaviors stem from students having difficulty with these three.  Consider this as you frontload simple expectations, but also be mindful of having LOGICAL CONSEQUENCES for when they don't adhere to your expectations.
Fine and Performing Arts Learning Walk:

On Thursday, February 1st, Chelsea Burnham (music), Kerin McGillicuddy (art) and I will be walking through all art and music classes K-12.  Chels and Kerin will see K-8 and I will walk through the high school.  Nicole Turgeon will get into band and orchestra during a similar window of time.  We will be in rooms for 5ish-8 minutes to see what the team is planning for students across all schools.  Once done, we will compile a LW Doc and share it with all of you so you can see where we are as a collective team.  This is important work, as it shows us a "day in the life" of a FRPS F&P Arts student!  Thank you for being a part of this work!

February 9th PD Day:

We have added a few more offerings to the PD Day- Linda Sineiro is still in the process of putting them into TeachPoint, so I will let you know when we have the full green light to go in and enroll.  Thank you to all who are stepping up to "Model the Element" of these aspects of great teaching!

(Re)Setting the Learning and Behavioral Expectations:

As we are "Half Way There" (cue Bon Jovi), please consider diving into this folder if you need some inspo on how to reset expectations, or clean up/ clarify behavioral expectations in your learning spaces.  If you want to see some really good, short clips from my fav behavioral PD lady, check out the Video Clips that I have been using with middle schools as we prepare for the start of a new semester!
