Arts EXPO:

Durfee Spring Concert Night 1:

Durfee Spring Concert 2:

RI Philharmonic:

  • Five elementary schools traveled with their recorders and brave music teachers to perform with the Rhode Island Harmonic on Wed/Thursday, and from what I hear, it was amazing!
FRPS Adjudication Festival:
  • Our band, chorus and orchestra teachers led the annual adjudication fest today and our student ensembles were rated on their performances.  Congrats go out to Kuss, Morton, Talbot, Henry Lord and Doran for holding those expectations high and showing up to do hard things!
Supplies for 2024/25:
  • As we wrap up the school year, let's be thinking about inventorying what we have (art staff) and what we will need for next year.
  • Art teachers, you should have received your supply order packet in interoffice mail.  Please return these paper copies to me asap so I can review them and give them to Russ Lewis.  He then places the order and fills it during the summer when you are on vacay.
  • Also, we will have the 2024/25 Art and Music Budgets that will drop in July.  The incoming director will communicate with the team as to amounts per teacher, per semester, etc.
Calendar for 2024/25:
  • See attachment in today's email for the PDF- plan your year!
Evals:
  • Lastly, thank you all for providing solid evidence for your evaluators to review.  If you have any questions, please reach out to your evaluator- never hurts to ask a question!  And, don't forget to sign the docs once you read them!

FRPS Invests in Another Mural from Artist Kevin Ledo- Celebrating Students Via the Arts

Fine and Performing Arts Director Jackie Francisco worked with Ken Pacheco to enlist the talents of muralist Kevin Ledo to create a mural on the side of our new 2501 Main Street location.

This mural will be similar in style to the Doran mural, and will span from bottom to top of one side of the building.  We collaborated with Kristen Farias to obtain permissions from the parents of a PreK student and are using his image in the mural.

In addition, now that we are also working on a plan to relocate Stone to this building, we are working on a way to have another mural, potentially on the inside of the building that celebrates a Stone student.

Kevin Ledo will be in Fall River to start this project on Monday June 17th, and will complete it within a week.  Here is the plan for the mural.

Have a great long weekend!
Jackie
