Collaboration and Growth:
  • Thank you all so much for reading the Learning Walk report I shared last week.  This week, I am sharing the second half of my learning- from the LW conducted this Wednesday in the 6-12th grade classrooms.  In my concluding notes from these findings, I relay an important message to the team that will guide us in our mapping work.  This was an interesting fall task for me, because it gave me a snapshot of what happens in an art, music or performing arts classroom on a given day.  I would like to express to all of you that I truly appreciate the planning, experimenting, teaching, relationship building, blood, sweat and tears that you all put into your work.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
  • The Fine and Performing Arts Family will be meeting in the afternoon during the November 8th PD Day.  Please see the email with the attachment for more details.  Also, please communicate with your building leaders to confirm that you will be able to attend.
  • Durfee Teachers- be on the look out for a sign up opportunity for the November 8th PD day..  You will be able to choose from a variety of "majors" and within these are specific courses.
Planning Ahead:
  • Professional Development Day: Tuesday, November 8th.  If you have not yet begun the text, Never Work Harder Than Your Students, please read pages 1-22 and complete the self assessment.  Good stuff!  We will begin with that information as a whole group on the PD day, and then break out into teams to continue to learn and collaborate together. The plan has been sent to you this week via email to you and your building leaders.  My preliminary plan is to have you together in the PM, and then have you start the day at schools. As always, if you need to remain at your school, please let me know!
  • Continueed from Last Week... 'Tis the Season: It's that time of year..  Scholastic Art and Writing!  Senior District Auditions!  Here are the links to the information you need: 
  1. Scholastics- I want to see as many students submit as possible (most do not pay to submit as they are free/red lunch)!  We had a good showing for high school, but not yet from the middle school- LET'S DO THIS!!!!  http://www.artandwriting.org/
