In the Blog This Week...
- K-5 Music Teachers- Thank you on behalf of the Band and Orchestra teachers for allowing some students to be pulled from music to teach them to play an instrument.. there are only so many minutes in a school day, and we make every attempt to pull from places that make the least amount of disruption (ELT, Music, Specials..). Lessons will officially begin at the elementary schools during the week of September 30th (students should have instruments at that point).
- Eval Stuff for All Teachers-
- Thank you for looking at the Goals Sentence Frames I sent last week. These will drive solid SLG/PPG planning as we dive into that work.
- The Self Assessment is to be completed first in TeachPoint. Once that is complete, you can begin your goals in those forms.
- Looking for a new Rubric Maker/Site to build an assessment for your SLG? Check this one out- create a log in and have access to thousands of art and music rubrics... RCAMPUS
- Planning using the NCAS:
- Thanks also for continuing to work with the National Core Arts Standards. As the old Mass Curriculum Frameworks are no longer in effect (they have approved the new ones- a hybrid of the NCAS and their new frameworks), please use the NCAS when you lesson plan.
- We will continue to work in PLC at the middle school level to brainstorm and think critically around planning for 6-8 art and music tasks.
- At the high school level, we have levels of proficiency to aim for as we plan- some great work coming out of these..
- Here is a great example from RPA teacher, Ms. Pellegrino:
Class: Art Foundations Estimated Time Frame: 5 (50-minute) Class Periods
Big Idea/Theme: What is self-image and how can we stay positive about ourselves?
