Week Ending 10/11/19

This week, I walked through all K-5 schools' art and music classrooms!  It was great to see the work happening in these learning environments..  Here are pictures that capture the work and planning better than anything I could ever write!

Hocus Pocus, Everybody FOCUS!
(stolen from Ms. McG at Watson...)
Kudos:
  • Congrats to our team for having a solid set of academic expectations displayed across the city in classrooms!
  • Awesome uses of Agendas, Word Walls, and Personalizing Expectations (the Bitmojis KILL ME hahha)!
  • Organizational strategies at the K-5 art tables are ON POINT!
  • Music I CAN statements from the National Core Arts Standards were visible in almost all K-5 music rooms!

In CPTs this Week:
  • In CPTs, we finalized worked on establishing goals in some schools (SLG/PPG).
  • We also focused on technology to engage and differentiate.  I will continue to demo how to use Google Slides to really have some fun with text and tech...  including strategies for ELL and Special Ed.
Release Time Day and PD:
  • Monday was the first of four release time days we will have this year.  The first and third are district/building led and the second and fourth are teacher led.
  • We used the time in a few ways- co-planing for team goals based on TAP 1 and district wide foci, and also some PD for art and music specific to their areas (tech for middle school music with Soundation, and art using NCAS as we demo'd a lesson from the MET)
  • Band and Orchestra met to collaborate on goal setting around improving systems for recruitment/retention.
  • The next PD day is already in the MAKING!  See you on Tuesday, November 5th!  Full Day PD- and it's going to be EPIC!
