Week Ending 10/4/19

Happy Friday, ARTS FAM!

In the News This Week:
  • The Learning Walks!  We have completed the 6-12 Learning Walk that gave us a lens into where we are in terms of the Learning Expectations.  It was great to be in your classrooms!  I shared the document in an email earlier this week.
  • The K-5 Learning Walk will be on Thursday, October 8th.  I will try to get to all K-5 schools in the window of time between 8 and 1.
  • CREATIVE COURTS has begun the planning for the HUGE BASKETBALL COURT MURAL set to begin next week at TALBOT!!!!  So excited!
  • Durfee Band has been preparing for this weekend's NB NESBA Event!  Best of luck to our musicians on Sunday!
In CPTs this Week and Next:
  • In CPTs, we worked on establishing goals in some schools (SLG/PPG), and sharing out best practices for conditions for learning, and also shared some cool "teacher hacks" that work in the art or music classroom!  So many great strategies were brought to the table!  Art Cheat sheets, Accountable Talk note sharing, strategy for accommodations in writing/responding in theatre, a Super Support in guitar, color coding the agenda, and the art of "gentle critiquing!"
  • Next week, we will be focusing on technology to engage and differentiate.  I will demo how to use Google Slides to really have some fun with text and tech...
Release Time Day:
  • Monday is the first of four release time days we will have this year.  The first and third are district/building led and the second and fourth are teacher led.
