Week of 12/6/19

Welcome to a WELL DESERVED Friday!

What an interesting week!  Any time there is a snow day, I always feel like our kids get a little off for the week.  We are all creatures of habit, and when our habits are changed due to unexpected weather stuff, it can set those "crazy wheels" into motion!

For the next two weeks, I have one recommendation for the team...

OVER-PLAN.  What do I mean?

  • Lesson plan for engagement and solid work time- I know we are all excited for the holiday break (me included), but the work needs to continue, business as usual!  Continue to plan those engaging and relevant arts tasks that get our kids thinking, doing, making, performing...
  • Continue to set the behavioral and learning expectations clearly- never ASSUME the kids know what you expect in the next two weeks..  Our kids THRIVE on your high expectations, so continue to be that Artsy Beacon in their life!
  • Plan for BELL TO BELL work- Do now's, lessons, work time, closings- plan for seamless transitions so that the ON TASK time allows for little to no "holes."

In the Arts This Week:

  • Durfee Musical- Mamma Mia!  This Friday, Saturday and Sunday!  Come on out and see us!  Friday/Sat shows are at 7PM and Sunday matinee is at 2PM!
  • Concerts!
    • 12/10- Morton Concert- 7PM
    • 12/11- Talbot Concert- 6:30PM
    • 12/12- Durfee Concert- 6:30PM
    • 12/17- Kuss Concert- 7PM
    • 12/17- HLCS and Doran Collab Concert at HLCS during the day!

NUTS AND BOLTS REMINDERS:
  • Lesson Plans are due on Monday morning.
  • Emergency Sub Plans need to be prepared and left on your desks (Durfee has a specific folder) in case you are absent.
  • Workshop Model aspects should be present (in your room and in your planning):
    • Posted Agenda
    • Warm Up (up to 5 min)
    • Opening (10-15 min)
    • Work Period (30-40 min)Closing (5-10 min)
Thank you, and have a great weekend!

Jackie
