Blog Entry for the Week!
Of course, I am going to start by saying that I was UNBELIEVABLY IMPRESSED with the level of preparation our Fine and Performing Arts Teachers exhibited this week as they welcomed our Cohorts A and C into our buildings! Super proud of you all- please let me know if you have any questions or ideas as we move into next week with Cohorts A and D!
In the News This Week:
- Checking In- As the dust settles in scheduling land, please make sure all of your students have been invited to your Google Classrooms! This is important- that is their way to communicate with you, not only on remote days/weeks, but also if for some reason, we had to jump into fully remote.
- Carts- K-5 Teachers are Super Stars on CARTS this semester- wish them luck as they are now "outfitted" with a new cart, projector and Chromebook! This way, they can Push-in to a class, Plug in, Present, Produce and dePart! Check'em out!
- Middle and High School Teachers are rolling out their Sanitation Stations, Transition Tables and other common strategies that were discussed during PLC meetings- in addition to some really cool ideas on how to have student work tables set up so that there is no sharing of supplies. Awesome!!
- ART: Don't forget to hit the Art of Education site- log in and use the thousands of resources!
- MUSIC: Quaver has been approved and purchased! Make sure you have your log in, and use it to engage students!
- QUAVER: How to CREATE AN ASSIGNMENT WITH QUAVER: LINK
- I have also ordered additional crayons, colored pencils and markers using funds from a FR United Way Grant- stay tuned!
- Band and Orchestra teachers are getting some schedules underway on Google Calendar! We are getting super tech-savvy.
So, what will we be working on together this year?
- We will norm virtual instructional planning, strategies and best practices that are NCAS Standards driven.
- During CPT, we will collaborate with department members to support the design of tasks for art and music that promote engaging activities with measurable outcomes (artifacts/art/music/performances).
- We will share and model the use of technology and platforms to bring art and music to the forefront of online learning (FlipGrid, Virtual Galleries, Google Sites, Google Drawings, etc).
Every month, I want to focus on a platform or online resource that will help us- this month: BITMOJI IN CHROME AND Google CLASSROOM...
- Did you know there's a Bitmoji Chrome Extension?
- This makes inserting your personalized jpg's super easy.
- Here is the 5 minute video that shows you how to do it:
Planning Ahead:
- Next week, students from cohorts A and D will be with us in buildings- remember, this is their first week of F2F school! "Rewind" those rituals and routines back, and hit play! The A students will already know these, so maybe they can "help friends out" when they are confused.. :)
- We will have CPT time on Wednesdays:
- K-5: 1:30PM
- 6-8: TBD
- 9-12: 12:30-1:30
- I will share a Google Meet for each group.
Have a wonderful weekend!
-Jackie
