Plugged IN:
This week, we checked in on two tools we discussed last week- Google Drawings and Screencastify..  I loved seeing you practice with these, and will include a Screencastify video again here for you, as well as a tutorial on how I use Google Drawings for planning for stuff!

ALL ACCESS Pass:
This week, in PLC we discussed how to use engagement tools- Screencastify and Google Drawings.

K-5 also has a Google Classroom to house resources that they will share- pandemic, schmandemic!

Hey, did you know that you can add "closed captions" to your videos?  This can help to support learners that need that extra reinforcement for the instructions during a video.  If you are in YouTube, you can click on the CC in the bottom right corner and then presto- automatic subtitles!
Think about it this way-
  • Search a tutorial video (say chords on guitar)
  • Click CC
  • Press play
  • In screencastify, press record
  • Pause the video, ask your own question or give your own instruction, and then press play again to continue
  • Rinse, repeat

We continued discussion on short tutorials to have students work at their own pace- as we saw in the study we looked at in PLC last week, this will help all learners to achieve the standard as they can go back and re-watch to learn the skill. Practice makes perfecto!

PLC Next Week:

  • Plan for Goals Chat Room- open conversation about the What, Who, How, When and any other words you have in mind :)
  • Plan for Assessing Growth- I will share some ideas!
On the Calendar:
  • No school Monday October 12
  • Durfee Dept Meeting- Tuesday, October 13
  • Progress Reports due for Durfee: Thursday, October 15
  • Durfee Faculty Meeting- Wednesday, October 21
  • Professional Development Day: Tuesday, November 3rd
Thank you all!
