Welcome to October!
This week in the Blog:
Master PLAN:
- Check out Ms. Dodge's innovative way of working with her students to establish the MASTER PLAN... She used Blogger (in your Google Suite) as her platform. The lessons include objectives in student friendly language, vocabulary, essential questions, procedure and a closing. Students use this site to communicate with Ms. Dodge, and her planning is all right there- one stop shopping! Check it out! Dodge'sBlog
Plugged IN:
- This week, we looked at the Art of Ed's article online related to keeping students engaged through Flipping the Classroom: LINK TO ARTICLE
- Think about this as you plan for next week- will you be creating a mini-lesson tutorial video that you can re-use for C/D cohorts, that you can load into your Google Classrooms, Google Sites or whatever platform you are using? Work smarter, not harder! Once this clip is done, you can use it anytime you need to- for teaching, reteaching, sub plans, etc.
- Are you wondering how to engage your students online and in class this year? Check out Cassie Stephens' YouTube Channel- here are some things that she's put in place that are SUPER HELPFUL for this year!
ALL ACCESS Pass:
- This week, in PLC we discussed how to ENGAGE ALL LEARNERS when using technology. One of the things we discussed was how to "hook" students with a designed Google Drawing that has the task embedded in it. Students are more likely to respond if visuals are present!
- We also discussed including short tutorials to have students work at their own pace- as we saw in the study we looked at in PLC, this will help all learners to achieve the standard as they can go back and re-watch to learn the skill. Practice makes perfecto!
- Here is a tutorial video to inspire you!
PLC:
- This week, we discussed:
- Goals, planning and focus
- Flipped Instruction- "Remote Control" and use of images and videos to engage
- Substitute Note Planning- what to do when you are out- on Hybrid and Remote days
- Next week, we will discuss:
- Goals Plans- how will you measure what you plan to focus on?
- Video Tutorials- Using SCREENCASTIFY, here's how to embed videos into your practice.
- Using Your Own Video? Check out this easy way to set up!
Calendar Items:
Goals: We discussed goals at length in this week's PLCs. Please use the Goals Sentence Starters to assist you in this process so our work is aligned- to standards, to focus on II A 3. As discussed in PLC, think about these questions as you plan: Planning questions for Ed Plan Development:for SLG
- On what standard/s will you want your students to focus
- How will you grow and support their achievement (strategies, tech use, etc)?
- Specifics-Who? What cohort/class/grade level?
- What? What will you plan (tasks, skill reinforcement, practice/mastery of standard)
- Why? -Consider pre-test data.
- When? Activities/Assessments
- How will you measure growth? How often?
- Why is this important to your content and students?
Have a great weekend,
Jackie
