Brian Niro at Tansey Movin' and Shakin' With K!
This Friday marks the last day of Term 1.. It hasn't been the "usual" term, that is for sure- but the Fine and Performing Arts Teachers have done an amazing job at keeping the ARTS alive in our schools. In visiting K-5 schools, I have seen amazing teaching and learning going on while teachers are pushing into classrooms on carts, without missing a beat! Kudos and mucho amor to all of you- you are doing amazing work.
Planning Ahead:
- Term 1 Closes Friday the 13th- 6-12 Grades will be due (check with your buildings for X2 deadline dates.
- Superhero days are Friday the 13th and 20th.
- The week of November 23rd is a short week- plan ahead!
- Next week is D cohort week.
Remote Control:
- This week, in our Remote Control section of the blog, I wanted to take a minute to "re-share" a totally cool and easy to use platform.. it's called Classroom Screen, and I have shared it in the past more than once, but in this time of remote stuff, it's gained new purpose!
- I will share the link here as well as a video on how to use it.

Master Plan:
- This week, I need to send out a gentle reminder to please share weekly lesson plans with me at the start of each week- thank you to those who have been doing this consistently!
- Art: Check out this plan for a MICROGRAPHY LESSON- super cool ideas. Lesson: LINK
- Music: Here are a couple of Quaver lessons recommended by Gael Berberick!
Note and Rest Grab Game (Great drill for note identification): https://www.quavermusic.com/lessonplanpresenter/?lpGuid=&slideGUID=651927c2-5901-499c-817e-7ef0635ab15f
Find That Beat (Excellent for identifying Meter, Strong and weak beats): https://www.quavermusic.com/lessonplanpresenter/?lpGuid=rid_170745
All Access Pass:
- Continuing with our focus on how to engage all learners, I'd like to give kudos to Barbara Mullen, Durfee art teacher who texted me this week to say how great it was to see her kids using the video tutorial she made, making her more "available" for students who needed assistance. Short tutorials really do make you feel like there are TWO of YOU in the room! Great work, Babs!
- As you know, I conduct 4 learning walks throughout the school year (when we are in "normal" mode) and share with all teachers what is happening across all arts classrooms in FRPS. I would be in the middle of the second one at this point!
- Here is what I would like to do to continue with this work:
- In the next week, reply to my FlipGrid with ONE SHARE OUT. Can be a task from any grade/class you are teaching next week- live or remote. See the link for specifics. In order for this to be a district wide view of what we do, I need everyone! Thank you in advance!

Have a wonderful and safe weekend, team... get your turkeys!
