Week Ending June 4th, 2021

Guess what I ordered?
BLACK BINGO DAUBERS!

GOT FIELD DAY?  I can set you up to do a paint by color mural with your kids!!  Email me if you plan to do this and I will get you set up-  Check out this video from Cassie Stephens that goes into the step by step deets on how to get this done!

In the News This Week:
  • I am thinking about doing a Podcast again- maybe in lieu of a blog every other week so you can listen to it whenever you want- it will have all of the info that the Blog has, but just chatted up versus written down!  My thought process- I am wondering if this will also inspire some teachers to make their own Anchor Podcast account and use it to communicate with Parents, Students or the Community?  Based on your feedback during the evaluation meetings, it sounds like we need to beef up our tools around "how to communicate with families/community" whether it's about curriculum, events or anything related to your content.  Podcasts can be sent to parents and shared on Twitter, Blogs, email, etc.. it's just a link to the site that you use as a podcast platform!  Simple!  Stay "tuned!"
  • I have spoken to Asst Super Maria Pontes and she confirmed that art and music teachers should be returning to their classrooms for the next school year.
  • Principals and their teams should be working on master schedules in the next few weeks- Band and Orchestra teachers, I will provide you with these ASAP so you can build your schedules for the next school year.
  • Band and Orchestra lessons will be ending on the week of the 7th of June- teachers will be collecting all instruments and inventorying.
  • The Cassie Stephens Carts will be in during the summer months- the lucky recipients are:
    • Kerin McG
    • Deb Cabral
    • Steph Pereira
    • Barbara Mullen
    • Chelsea Valois
  • These carts can be used in the classrooms, and also pushed outside if working "en plein air"!  So cool!
Planning Ahead:
  • PD on the last two days for teachers- I will have these posted on TeachPoint by the end of next week.
  • Supply Orders- Thank you for sending these in- Russ has them and will be filling them over the summer.
  • Durfee will be super busy getting packed up and ready to move into the new building- please wish them well as they "purge and plan" ahead for the WHOLE NEW YEAR!!!
  • The BIG Save the Date Meeting- I will be leading a Save the Date meeting for the Performing Arts team during the last two half days- this will map out all events for the 2021/22 school year- the 2022 ARTS EXPO is already set for Thursday, April 28th!
Tools of the TRADE:
  • Have you checked out PicMonkey, art teachers?  Its pretty cool- like a free Photoshop, with layers and cool tools.
  • Have you checked out Band App?  Another idea for communication with parents/kids!
  • Did you know that Google Meet has a new interface?  Check out the whole thing here in this VIDEO..
  • Have you dipped your toes into the FlipGrid pool yet?  OMG, so fun for your kids- and as we jump into next year, my gut tells me our kids will be needing to brush up on their "talking without a mask" skills.  This tool will get them talking, and being accountable for their learning!

Have a wonderful weekend, and get ready for the HEAT next WEEK!!!

Jackie
