Happy Women's History Month!
As you are planning this month, let's pay homage to all of those AMAZING WOMEN in the ARTS! Let's see some lesson plans that showcase the work of the women who blazed a trail for our artists of today, and tomorrow! I put a few familiar faces above- feel free to steal and build ideas from.. and if you haven't heard of any of these female powerhouses, check them out! I'd love to see some of the work from students that synthesizes the style of these artists, or is a tribute to them- PLEASE SHARE PICS!!!!A very happy March 1st to you ALL! I hope you are all having a great start up to this pre-spring week. Here are some countdowns for you:
- PD Release Time Day- Monday, March 7th
- Daylight Savings- Sunday, March 13th
- St Patrick's Day- Thursday, March 17th
- End of Trimester 2- Friday, March 18th
- 1st Day of Spring- Sunday March 20th
- End of Term 3- Friday, April 1st
We will be getting some mask news from the superintendent's office regarding the mask mandate as the CDC changed their position on mask wearing- stay tuned for an announcement. I will include a visual here for those who wish to use it with students as we rescind the mask mandate (again, stay tuned for date). This will be something that may need some discussion with kids (especially at the K-5 level), so hopefully the visual helps..
- There will be three things happening within our department:
- Band and Orchestra teachers will be meeting at Durfee in the music office to work on performance event planning.
- K-8 Art teachers will be working in their classrooms prepping for the K-12 Arts EXPO.
- K-8 Music teachers will be at Talbot mapping and SELing with Abby Casey.
- 9-12 Fine and Performing Arts team will be doing work on UDL for the first hour and then meeting for departmental PD in the art office from 1- 3:30 (a very cool agenda will be shared).
- Please sign up for these in TeachPoint- they are named K-12 Arts Expo Workshop Time, Music Mapping and SELements of Music, and Band and Orchestra Planning.
