ARTS EXPO NEWS:

K-8:

  • Just finished cutting the last sheet of 2022 K-12 Arts EXPO Kraft paper and will be delivering these rolls to Kuss and Morton today.  All other schools who ordered their paper from me on the form should have their rolls pre-cut.  I pre-folded the Large panels, but did NOT fold the mediums and smalls so that is something you can do on a long table when you lay it out.
  • For the newbies.. ask your colleagues for advice if you need it- student work should be labeled with the Arts Expo labels (I sent these), and then affixed to the kraft paper with masking tape, staples or tape gun.  Glue doesn't hold up, so please don't use a glue stick.  You will wind up using a ton of them and the work all falls off..
  • Once you have student work on the panels, you can lay it flat in your room until you are ready to bring it here (if you have the space) or you can roll it up.
  • On Wednesday, April 27th, I will ask principals to coordinate with you so that you can get released at noon-ish (closest bell to noon) and you can come over and hang your artwork.  I will have the bi-folds ready.
  • If you are worried you cannot get the rolls over, carefully roll them up and secure them and I will have Russ coordinate to pick them up for you and bring them here that day.
  • Here is a PPT from one of the old Expos for people who were not here.
9-12:
  • 2D- So great to see the work getting prepared for the Expo- love what you are doing on the white panels!
  • 3D- I have some black fabric for the pedestals we can make out of stacked stools, and we need to make some table tents for the name tags.  We will use the tables in the ceramics and sculpture rooms as space for art as well.  For that night, we will open the two glass walls, and let people walk through.. You may want to think of a traffic pattern.
  • RPA and Durfee's work will be in the back- the last school before the back doors.  The work will be in "developmental order" by grade level- K in the front of the foyer, and 12 in the back.  This way, families can walk through and see the progression of artistic development.
Performing Arts:
  • Jayson Newell and Justin Gallagher will be coordinating some performances during the Arts Expo as well!  Thank you in advance, guys!  So excited for this.. let's think about placement and time where/when the performers will play.
An example of the high quality work you will see from the Fashion Design class!

Pic from this week's FRACC Meeting- we are working on developing an after school fine and performing arts program at the Narrows for our middle school students for the Fall of 2022!

Beautiful piece you will see in the Arts EXPO!

Performances and Trips:
  • We have the Advanced Art students from Durfee heading to Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art this week and next to work with the museum's curators to learn how to curate a show.  So excited for the collab these kids are working on with Brittney and Harry Harvey!
  • We have the Durfee Theater students ramping up for this weekend's trip to Case for Mass Educational Theater Guild's Comps!  Wish them LUCK!!!  So excited for them.. we haven't done this in 2 years due to COVID shutdown.
  • We have SEMSBA this weekend at Stoughton High School!  Jayson Newell will be chaperoning for us, thank you Jayson!  Best of luck, SEMSBA-ers!
  • We have the NBSO heading to Tansey and Silvia in the next few weeks to collaborate with third graders on "GRAVITY IN SPACE AND SOUND."  That's SUPER COOL.
