Thoughts wrapping up this very busy week..

  • So proud of you all.  Checking in and seeing and hearing that things are going great makes my heart smile.  The planning and work around the first two weeks of school was worth it.  I heard discussions around safety, clarity of expectations, setting the stage for learning, exploring, and lots of classroom mapping (supply/instrument locations..).  Our students have responded with pretty much taking you up on these expectations and challenges, and I think we are in for a really great school year.
  • Band and Orchestra are wrapping up instrument demonstrations.  They will be setting their 4th and 5th grade classes and continuing on with middle and high schoolers.  Instrument Rental Night will be held at Durfee High School on Thursday September 29th.  Here is the ELEMENTARY RENTAL FORM.  Students in schools who we have already done demos in have the paper forms as well.  DO NOT COLLECT MONEY!  If a student gives you money to rent, return it to the student and inform classroom teacher.
  • ELEMENTARY MUSIC PEEPS- BOLO (be on the look out): For forms for band and orchestra with your 4th and 5th grade kids!  Band and Orch teachers will be around to grab these!
  • Our district focus is on my mind a lot these days.  Post COVID, most districts are focusing on getting our kids back on track, but knowing that we can't go back in time and have a re-do- our only recourse is to use every minute to provide students high quality tasks based on grade leveled standards and provide scaffolds for those who need it.  What does this mean?  You can't get back the time lost, but you CAN still plan great work, and provide the specific supports for students to be able to achieve.  This is what our GOALS will be based on this year for PD and the eval process.
  • Evals: At this point, you should have been informed as to who your evaluator is.  I am the primary evaluator for my Durfee Team, Band and Orchestra, and music and art itinerants.  All others should have a building based evaluator, and I am listed in TeachPoint as the Secondary.  I will be in classrooms to observe starting in October.  As always, if you are itchin' to have me come visit to see something cool you've got going on, please invite me!  I will be there!
  • Loving seeing HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH inspiration in your lesson plans!  Keep'em coming!
