In The News This Week...

  • Mural Update
PD Update:
As you know from a slew of emails this week (LOL), we have a busy week planned for next week.  With the PD day on Tuesday, and then a holiday on Friday, I want to just make people aware as they plan for classes, that you will not have your Tuesday or Friday classes next week.  This may balance the playing field a little with your Monday classes who are a little behind, or at least I hope so!  
  • Music teachers will have two PDs- one morning session, and one afternoon session.  Both sessions are in the same room- 1909 here at Durfee.  Please bring your Chromebook and an open mind, both fully charged!  Prep is 8-9, first session starts at 9.
  • Performing Arts teachers will attend the morning session with the music teachers and then move over to the music office to work with Julia and Nicole.  Prep is 8-9, first session starts at 9.
  • Art teachers will be on a slightly different schedule and will have their prep later in the day.  We will meet at 8 in 1308 here at Durfee, and will have the pleasure of working with a facilitator from AP Art.  Please bring a Chromebook fully charged, open mind also fully charged LOL..
  • SUPER IMPORTANT- Enroll for these sections in TeachPoint!
Goals Work and the Ed Plans:
  • It's been a busy week, and I am still reading all of your goals!  Thank you for working with the Goals Sentence Frames- it really helps to align our work.  The PDs and PLCs throughout the year will be aligned to these.
  • Next up, the Ed Plan Development Forms.. You need two.  One for your PPG and one for your SLG.  Please, do NOT over stress about the LENGTH of what you are writing in these.  As I always say, it's a ROAD MAP for your work to achieve these goals.  The "what, when, how, etc" should be listed simply in this doc- I like bullets.  Clear and simple.  These are due on TeachPoint by 11/14.  Please let me know if you need help!
No PLC Next Week:

We have been trekking forward in weekly PLCs at the 6-12 schools, but I want to take a pause next week so people can focus on closing grades in PowerSchool for Term 1.  See you back in PLC during the week of Nov 14!

Mural Updates:

  • Doran’s mural was completed during the summer, as well as the playground.  This was done with grant funding.  
  • This year, I am working on funding from FRCC for a Watson mural.
  • We have two murals for Talbot and HLCS that were completed last week with John Westbay through Coaching 4 Change.
  • John Westbay worked with students at both schools, discussed using symbols and then incorporated their work into his mural.
Reminders:
  • Lessons are due on Monday morning.
  • Sub plans should be shared with me (Durfee/Band/Orch) or building lead (all other).
  • Observations will be happening in all schools, so please, if you have a particular lesson/class you want me to see, let me know!
