K-8 Department Meetings:

Chelsea and Rochelle have been organizing these in person meetings all year, and I am so grateful for this monthly time that you get to have with your colleagues.  For the winter months, this is how we will run it:

  • No January meeting
  • February meeting will be in person attached to the district wide PD day Feb 10.
  • March and April will be on the usual day of the month, but VIRTUAL.
  • May and June will be TBD
Mass Cultural Council Grants:

We received word that all three of our grant requests were approved.  A total of $14,000.00 will help fund:
  • Mural work at Watson
  • Holocaust Art Collab Project with BCC/Barney Zeitz
  • Fashion Design Collab with Jae Lavoie
Michael Troy Foundation Update:

As you may recall, we held the Annual Michael Troy Memorial Concert at the Narrows Center for the Arts last month, and I am happy to announce that the board will be presenting Durfee Performing Arts team with a check for $6,000.00 to use to purchase additional instruments for their programs.

SCCAL Arts Lab Recruitment:

Art and music teachers at the middle schools have been busy discussing who they will nominate to be added to the lottery for this after school art and music program.  For 7th and 8th grade students who are super interested and motivated in either art or music, this Tue/Thu after school program will engage kids in studio art or music time, after they have snack and do a little movement break.  Buses will be provided for students.  At the end of the semester, students will have a gallery/performance evening for families and friends.
