  • Release Time Day 3/6 Plan
  • Accountable Talk and Close Observation/Analysis in Art, Music and Theatre
  • Calendar Items
PD Day Wrap Up:
  • So great to have you all in the house together to laugh and learn together.  We had groups working with Steph Pereira on mini-tutorials, Abby Casey led a group on engagement, Nicole Turgeon led the group on planning for performances, and Chelsea Burnham led the group on yoga/calming centering strategies.
  • I spent some time during middle school CPTs this week listening to teachers explain how they will use what they learned in their planning ahead.  Excited to see how it goes- PLEASE SHARE pics or slides or any output of these PDs so that we have evidence of its' impact on your work!  Email me anything you would like to share!
3/6 Release Time Day:
  • The last of our 2022/23 days of teacher learning time, this half day will be similar to the last half day in terms of timing, with the district providing 2 hours of PD for teachers.  I will have this 2 hour slot in TeachPoint soon.  We will be having groups meet at Durfee in a few art rooms to work on mapping, PPG artifacts, etc.
  • I will send an email with specifics when we return from vacation so that you know what to plan for.
  • There will be a group for K-5 Art, K-5 Music, 6-8 Art, 6-8 Music, Band/Orchestra, 9-12 Fine and Performing Arts
Accountable Talk and Close Observation/Analysis in Fine/Perf Arts:
  • This has been a focus for us at the high school, and as we transition from one Pre-AP (and Durfee) pillar to another, we, like our students are gradually building muscle in improving our students' ability to explain their reasoning using arts vocabulary.
  • Specifically, our goal in the next few weeks will lie in refining our prompt writing and desired outcomes.  AKA: What are we asking kids to respond to and what are the "ingredients" of a good response?
  • Above are some examples of really good thinking in action as the Durfee team shared out their prompts for Close Obs/Analysis.
  • Here are a couple of Blendspaces for review- one on Accountable Talk and one on Close Observation and Analysis.
