OMG You CRAZY HUMANS we are BACK

In this first Blog back, I am making an executive decision to keep it light on the cognitive load, and heavy on the love.  Can I just say I love this team?  To those of you who are new to the Fine and Performing Arts Team, WELCOME to the best team EVA.  To our veteran Artsies, your roots in this program are strong, and I have been watching you take the new teammates under your wing, and it fills my heart.  So, thank you.  We are 56 artists strong, and I swear every team out there is jelly of what we got going on.

In the News This Week:

  • Monday October 2nd will be the district's first PD release time day, where students go and we stay and engage in some learning.  I will share my plan with you in the next two weeks, but here's a teaser- it will directly tie to diversity and inclusive practices in arts learning spaces.
  • Lesson Plans-  If you can read this, you survived the two day "soft opening" for kids.  Congrats!  Lessons for next week should be emailed to me on Mondays, but next week we don't start until Tuesday, so send it over on Tuesday.  Thanks!
  • Maps for K-8- If you don't have access to the updated maps for art and music please email Kerin McGillicuddy (art) or Chelsea Burnham (music) and they will help you out.   Remember, it's important to focus on routines this coming week, and consistency.  The task should be there to engage and challenge students, but being laser focused on building consistency in your rooms will pay off HUGE dividends in the end.
  • 6-8 Art and Music- You should be noticing now that you have your cohorts 4 days a week for a semester.  That's about 80 classes for instruction and learning.  Excited to see the impact of this focused arts time.
  • Arts EXPO- I know it's August LOL- but keep it on your calendars!  Thursday May 16th, we open the doors to the Fall River Community, and BOY DO THEY SHOW UP... LOVE it!  Oh, and we have been awarded a $2,500.00 grant from the Mass Cultural Council to purchase more EXPO panels.. Awesome news!
  • The Annual Instrument Rental Night is Thursday, September 28th.  Band and Orchestra teachers will be sizing and renting instruments to hundreds of FRPS children in the span of a few hours.  Light a candle for us- LOL.

And can we just talk about how awesome this lady is?  Our recently retired (legit like 10 min of retirement) Rochelle Pettenati has stepped in at Morton to cover in art for September.. She's so good, she does it with her eyes closed hahahhhahahah.. sorry.

Have a wonderful 4 day weekend.  See you back here on Tuesday- I'll buzz around town all week to check in with'y'all.

Jackie
