RI Link Up:
  • 5th grade students from Letourneau, Doran, Greene, Fonseca and Spencer Borden will be traveling on May 22/23 (depending on the school) to see the Rhode Island Philharmonic perform as part of their grant funded Link Up Program.  What is this?  Check out this short video below for a 2 minute summary- and this ARTICLE that summarizes it.
  • The Philharmonic’s Link Up program was developed by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. It provides instruments, curriculum materials and professional development to schools, and culminates in concerts where students play along with the Philharmonic.

Solo Fest:
  • The FRPS Band and Orchestra teachers will be at Durfee High School on Saturday April 6th to roll out this annual adjudication event will allow all band and orchestra students to perform pieces at different levels of difficulty, be judged and given feedback, and then awarded according to their level of performance.  Wish your young musicians luck!  This type of performance instills a sense of challenge and accomplishment in our kids, and that's a good thing to have!
Term 4 Begins:
  • Yes, the last term is starting Monday April 1st!  Durfee staff may have new classes starting, and all semester classes will be at the half way point.  Grades will be worked on this coming week, and due soon, so please check your building based emails for X2 details.  Durfee grades are due Friday April 5th.
MCAS:
  • I know we were knee deep in ELA MCAS this week, so thank you if you were asked to monitor a hall, a testing site, or cover a class.  This is a tough time for us, even if we are NOT ELA teachers!  Kids may come out of testing time dysregulated or super filled with energy.. be ready for that in your planning.  If you would like to see the district MCAS dates, please click here: LINK

Have a wonderful LONG weekend!
