So much excellent work happening across the Fine and Performing Arts department this week!  This week, the blog will be a celebration of the Performing Arts AWESOMENESS!!! METGs:  So, for those of you who have no idea what this is, METG is the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild, and they hold an annual high school theater competition.  This year, Durfee Theater acting and technical students competed against Dartmouth, Mansfield, Case and Diman as they performed The Actor's Nightmare.  This means they move onto the Regional Round, to be held at Duxbury High, where they will compete with Holliston, Sturgis, St. John's Prep, Everett, and Weymouth High Schools.  They received great feedback from the judges at prelims, and will be busy practicing within the next weeks to refine their craft.  So excited for them!  Bring home the GOLD, HILLTOPPERS!  And a special set of KUDOS to Ms. Lara Beth Terry and Mr. Gary Bigelow for leading, mentoring, teaching, loving, pushing and pers

Midway Through MARCH- Bring on the MADDDDNESSS! This week, we showcase art that is getting ready for the Expo- next week, we will showcase the Performing Arts as they will have completed a few performances! Picture from the 2016 K-12 Arts Expo ARTS EXPO NEWS:  K-8:  Just finished cutting the last sheet of 2022 K-12 Arts EXPO Kraft paper and will be delivering these rolls to Kuss and Morton today.  All other schools who ordered their paper from me on the form should have their rolls pre-cut.  I pre-folded the Large panels, but did NOT fold the mediums and smalls so that is something you can do on a long table when you lay it out. This week, in the ARTS: We had our last professional development day on Monday- so good, but bittersweet as this is the last PD day scheduled for the school year.   Abby spent the afternoon with K-8 music teachers , and reported out that it went well- lots of discussion during the SEL portion and Chelsea had an excellent idea for the Jazz Blues unit at the middle schools!  She also reported out that the remainder of the department meetings will be spent on SEL, UDL and adaptive music.   The K-8 art team were busy in their studios (AKA classrooms) preparing for the K-12 Arts Expo.  Thank you to those who have submitted numbers for the pre-cut paper.  I have delivered to most, and have a short list left, but ran out of paper!  It's on the way (thank God for Amazon), and I should have this for you in the next week.   The band and orchestra teachers had a great pow wow in the music wing, and worked on All City prep, scheduling, field trips, Solo Festival and Small Fry concert prep.
